Which movie would you find in your own Pulp Fiction briefcase? (one which you would treasure or is impossible to see because it is not available)

Disney’s Song Of The South. It’s been out of print for decades, and I haven’t seen it since I was a kid. I think it’s about time we all got over this irrational fear of upsetting people and showed it as it was intended – a work of art of the time.

Please release me....

If you had a Back to the Future DeLorean, which cinema related time period would you travel?

I’d go back to the 30’s. Depression aside, it is still such an evocative time period, and I’d love to stroll around New York with my trenchcoat and fedora, watching the Fed’s go after illicit speak-easies. That, and calling women “broads” all the time is one of my great cinema fantasies.

What my ideal 30's would look like...

If you woke up tomorrow morning and found out that you were living your own Groundhog Day and could only escape it by watching all the movies from a specific genre, which genre would you choose and why? And which genre would be your personal hell?

If I could only watch one genre, it would be science fiction; the fantasy of it all is a truly limitless thing. My own personal hell would be having to continuously watch a bunch of “romantic comedies”…. Especially ones “starring” either Jennifer Lopez or Aniston.

I'm not sure where we can park this thing....

You have the Neuralyzer from Men in Black in your pocket. Which movie would you travel into to use it on one of the characters to change the movie in a fun or interesting way and what would happen because of the change you made?

Tough one; I’d use the Neuralyzer on Morpheus. If he didn’t track down Neo, then we’d never have to worry about all those stupid bullet-time spoofs. Mind you, this would also mean we’d never get to see Trinity do all that crazy stuff she does, so if there’s a downside to this plan, that would be it.

She wore an itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka-dot bikini....

If you would be able to enter the dreams of a famous movie character like Cobb did in Inception using the dream machine, which character’s dreams would you jump into to get to know that character better and what do you think their dreamworld would look like?

If I could go into anyone’s dreams, it would have to be Yoda. I’ve no doubt that his dreams would consist of him fighting a bazillion Sith Lords single-handedly. And that would be awesome to see.

Dude.

Lacuna Inc, the company from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind just opened on the corner of your street. Which one movie memory would you delete to experience it for the first timeย  again?

If I could see any movie experience for the first time again, I’d choose Moulin Rouge. It’s one of my favourite films ever, and one of the greatest experiences in the cinema I’ve ever had.

Suggestions for Dirty Dancing 3 start here.

Right next to Lacuna Inc, another company Rekall from Total Recall has opened as well. Which character in which movie would you like to be to experience it in first person?

I’d like to be Ethan Hunt. Goddam, he never dies. And he sleeps with Thandie Newton in MI2, so what’s not to enjoy?

You mean I can dodge bullets?

  1. The 1930s, eh? Good answer.

When I finish my post, hopefully later this week, I think I'm going to choose the sci fi genre as well. I don't think I'd get bored of watching sci fi films as they are all so very different to each other.

Oh and Yoda is such a great choice! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Great answers Rodney! I adore Moulin Rouge, I'm glad you love it too. I share your pick of personal hell, throw in someone like Channing Tatum or Taylor Lautner into the bargain and my agony would be complete!

    1. I'm not sure how you'll go with a hard copy version (although I did hear there were some bootleg VHS copies floating about eBay many eons ago), but I would say there'll be a torrent or two out there waiting for you….

  3. Great answers! I've never seen Song of the South but know about the controversy. It would be a thrilling experience doing all the stuff Ethan Hunt does!

Were you thinking about something else when writing the post…the opening line say Blog-A-THONG ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. LOL yeah, looks like my spell-check didn't work like I'd hoped. Corrected now. Song of The South is a great film, regardless of racial overtones, and offers an important look into filmmaking of the era…
