Found out this morning that one of my favourite screen villains has dropped off the perch. Patrick McGoohan, who most will remember from his dazzling turn as Edward the Longshanks from Mel Gibson&#8217;s <em>Braveheart<\/em>, has passed away.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5896\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5896\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5896\" title=\"p1351_edward_i_0348\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fernbyfilms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1351_edward_i_0348.jpg\" alt=\"p1351_edward_i_0348\" width=\"400\" height=\"263\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fernbyfilms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1351_edward_i_0348.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.fernbyfilms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/p1351_edward_i_0348-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5896\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">McGoohan as Edward Longshanks, in Mel Gibson&#39;s epic Braveheart.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">McGoohan starred as number 6 in the television series <em>The Prisoner<\/em>, back during the 60&#8217;s, for which he became quite famous. Alongside his major role in <em>Braveheart<\/em>, other feature films he appeared in included <em>Ice Station Zebra<\/em>, <em>Silver Streak<\/em>, and <em>Escape From Alcatraz<\/em>.
