Frank Kelly 1938-2016<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Irish acting legend Frank\u00a0Kelly, best known as Father Jack\u00a0on the beloved television sitcom Father Ted<\/em>, has passed away.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

An Irish acting legend, Frank\u00a0Kelly’s career encompassed virtually every aspect of popular entertainment – stage and screen, radio and music, as well as screen-writing. From an initial uncredited appearance in the original Italian Job, to a minor role in the glorious failure of Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie<\/em>, as a judge, Frank Kelly’s most<\/em> iconic role was as the unintelligible, almost always drunk\/asleep\/dead Father Jack on Father Ted<\/em>, which ran between 1995 and 1998.<\/p>\n

Other film roles include Rat<\/em> (2000), Cowboys & Angels<\/em> (2003), and Waiting For Dublin<\/em> (2007), while television roles aside from Father Ted<\/em> include Remington Steele<\/em>, The Deal, Malice Aforethought<\/em> and Emmerdale<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Following a diagnosis of Parkinsons in 2015, Frank\u00a0Kelly passed away on February 28. He was 77.<\/p>\n
