In reply to <a href="https://www.fernbyfilms.com/2015/09/14/movie-review-third-man-the/comment-page-1/#comment-366431">brikhaus</a>.

Ahh, well, each to their own, I guess. I think I took delight in the technical aspects of this film moreso than the plot points (I admit, I thought the long wait to finally see Welles was a bit of a suckerpunch), but it's a film that really hooked me. And I really need to re-watch Maltese Falcon - I don't think I've seen that since I was a kid.

I will concede the film's use of shadow and light is well realized, and creates a unique atmosphere. On the other hand, everything else about this movie sucks, as I so objectively outlined in my Classically Shitty review. There were good noir films from the period (e.g. The Maltese Falcon), unfortunately this isn't one of them. I think the black market penicillin bit was the most ludicrous plot yet for the genre. But nice review, as always, Rodney.
