I agree – for such a technologically evolved conglomerate of beings, you'd think "harvesting" people to remain younger would be a thing of the past. That's a hurdle I never caught, but now that you mention it, it's a big flaw. Perhaps it's like treatments for cancer here; there's a cure, but there's more money to be made off "research" and "treatment" than a cure would ever bring in…. Conspiracy much!

Otherwise, I think the world the Wachowski's created is one worth revisiting, but considering how lukewarm the box-office and critical reception to this film was, I don't think we'll ever see it again, unfortunately.

I loved the movie. It was definitely a visual treat and the story was OK.
My main issue is with the whole concept that they need to harvest humans. Somehow this is a world of the future were their technology is amazing, yet they couldn't work out nanotechnology or advanced enough genetic engineering to not need such barbaric acts.
Even taking that as a step, they then had so many connotations that nature (genetics) are what determine you, it wasn't until very near the end where she says she's not his mother that it hints there might be a difference.
Really, genetics usually gives you a predisposition, but it's the environment, from pre-natal and parenting to friends, family and resource availability which has the most important influence on a persons life.
