While the peculiarities of setting a film in one city or another are lost on me in this instance, I can only imagine that Detroit's utter ruin at the moment probably had a fair bit to do with the relocation…. amirite?

It\’s a chasm that will only become wider with the passing of time; as another generation look back at 2014 RoboCop, they will soon learn the lesson Hollywood today is still yet to: come up with something new, and don\’t try to recycle genius. Remake crappy films, sure, and try turning them into good films, but stay away from the good ones. You\’re only setting yourself up for failure.

Expectation is the folly of all audiences, I guess Ruth, and like you I had an expectation that this would be at least passably entertaining on some level, although it could never hope to achieve what Verhoeven did. I went in expecting the worst, having seen the trailers and promotional material, and even then I was disappointed.

…. the end credits, perhaps? 😉

Seriously though, living in the shadow of the vastly superior original, I am continually surprised at how many bloggers out there actually didn\’t mind it! One man\’s trash is another\’s treasure, I guess.
