Those who don't like Quantum of Solace should revisit it with their heads screwed on straight. Skyfall was indeed impressive (although not quite as such as Casino Royale) and worthy of the Bond label.

Refer to my previous statements re Quantum Of Solace, Ruth, but yes, this is a terrific Bond film indeed. I too went into it as spoiler-free as possible, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure, there were a few issues with it (a clunky mid-section drags the plot to a halt at times) but I was glad to see Dench get her character developed, alongside a more emotive aspect for Daniel Craig. Personally, I didn't mind Marlohe, but felt she was underwritten and underused. Her murder was meant to be shocking but at that point in the film, I hadn't seen enough of her to develop a real attachment from which to springboard any sadness at through her demise.

As you'll see in my review, I really liked Quantum of Solace, and give it far more props than most people seem prepared to. Skyfall is easily the "darkest" of Craig's Bond film – even taking into account Bond's mourning of Vesper in Quantum – and I really thought the filmmakers pushed the envelope as far as Bond as a character (rather than a stereotype) this time around. For the next installment, I'd really like to see them pursue this angle a little further, take us into something a Bond film hasn't done much of before: giving Bond a humanity he's been missing of late.

I also enjoyed that they played with Bardem's character being gay, but I think if they really wanted to be bold, they'd make Bond gay. Now that would shake up some people! Not Craig necessarily, but the next guy.

I like your points about how this one and the previous Craig films serve as a Bond Begins trilogy. They really do, but I hadn't really considered them as a trilogy, so I never really noticed it. The next one should be pretty good!
