Probably never, I think. My reviews are always more awesome than their films.

I'm gonna get flamed somewhere for this, but generally speaking, with a few minor exception, John Hughes films don't really do much for me, I have to say!

One day Hollywood's gonna wake up and realize that you don't have to completely change a concept to make it more accessible to the common man: after all, there is a reason it was so popular in its original format, so why go and make it all "hip" and "cool" when you don't need to? And yes, I really enjoyed writing this review! LOL ;)

Ferris Bueller aside, I'm not that big a fan of Broderick either, now that I think about it....

Good God, I can only imagine the horror of having to see/hear this film that many times.... at least she was getting paid, right? ;) Godzilla's also got a special place in my heart too, Scott, as it was one of the main test discs I used on my home theatre when friends came over for a look....

Hi Anthony!! Thanks for the comment: in reply, I will qualify my remarks by saying that I DID enjoy Godzilla in the cinema back in 1998, but that was before I developed my serious appreciation for good cinema. I've always maintained that I can enjoy a brainless, mindless popcorn fest as much as the next person (perhaps you should read my review of Battleship, elsewhere on the site!) but I found re-watching Godzilla to be a real chore. A popcorn flick should at least be fun, and Godzilla tried so hard to be serious is sucked all the fun out of itself. Had it been my decision, I'd have got rid of all the extra "story" like the French dudes and that stupid reporter woman, and stuck with Godzilla arriving, the army trying to blow the shit out him, and then finish it off with the destruction of a major landmark with Godzilla inside it - like Madison Square Garden, which was a wasted opportunity, if you ask me.

The film sags badly in the third quarter (the Godzilla kids sequence is especially annoying, because it goes nowhere and feels like an unneeded sequel inside the film) and I find myself hovering a finger over the FF button on the remote control. I did try and sit back and enjoy, but spent more time grinding my teeth in frustration than anything else.

Alright, I've had enough. Godzilla was a GREAT movie, and I'm just sick and tired of all the critics and others who view the movie as a complete disaster due to its lack of a story and other problems.

Personally, I don't care. The movie, from day one was meant to be just a big effects laden action movie. It's just for fun. I understood the story. The movie should just be viewed as a fun, blow everything up in your way movie. Don't be so hard. Sit back and enjoy.
My recent post <a href="http://www.moviezya.com/ransom/" rel="nofollow">Ransom (1996)</a>

Funny bout that, Elizabeth! I used to do the same thing - the original DVD was my favorite "test" disc for recalibrating my home theatre and for showing off to friends. Either this or The Matrix. Thanks for popping in!

I remember seeing this when it first came out and thought it was terrible. I don't think Matthew Broderick will remember this as one of his greatest works, thats for sure. Neither will Hank Azaria, come to think of it. Even though the film is rubbish, its a great movie to annoy the neighbours. My husband uses this to demo our home cinema when friends come over.
