Wow, that's the first time I've heard somebody say it was poorly executed. I considered it to be extremely well executed for what it was trying to achieve, it's just that the story and lack of genuine emotion from the (admittedly) wooden cast made for a faily ambivalent effort.

@ Vik – How do you mean cliched, mate? I assume you mean the story somehow?

@ Will – You didn't like Sky Captain? Was it the Paltrow factor, the story, or the visual style: I quite liked the visual style, but felt the story itself lacked…. I don't know, something to make it genuinely exciting.

Thanks Adam – The style of the film is indeed awesome. You're right about the difference between Hemsworth and Evans "filling" the screen, although I think a lot of that could be put down to the different directorial styles (and overall visual aesthetic of the characters) rather than the actors themselves. Johnston made a good decision to refrain from loads of money shots of Evans in costume, and I think that gave the Captain America a more "realistic" vibe, instead of a true "comic book" vibe a la Thor.

Thanks Dan. I think you're in the majority of folks who think Captain America is a good film but offers nothing new, and to a point I guess I can see where you're coming from. I really thought the 1940's look was great too, and the cliffhanger ending was pretty brave to do…. and leaving the romantic subplot unresolved was another thing I think should have been avoided… still……what can you do.
