Hostel director Eli Roth ventures into the realm of gritty urban vengeance with his remake of Death Wish, the Charles Bronson-headlined franchise from the 70’s that I was never allowed to watch back in the day. Obviously, you’d have to put Bruce Willis into the lead role as a man exacting revenge Batman-style on the city’s criminal elements following the brutal murder of his wife; whether Roth’s film will ask the tough question of vigilantism in today’s gun-soaked political atmosphere…. well, we’ll have to wait and see.
