Vale – Robert Hardy

British actor Robert Hardy, best known for his co-starring role in All Creatures Great And Small and as a supporting actor in the Harry Potter franchise, has passed away.

Robert Hardy began his acting career primarily as a stage performer, appearing in multiple Shakespeare productions throughout London’s West End. A long-running role in television series The Troubleshooters paved the way for bigger film roles, and Mr Hardy appeared in Cold War thriller The Spy Who Came In From The Cold (with good friend Richard Burton), Berserk, and How I Won The War during the 1960’s. Hardy essayed British political icon Winston Churchill multiple times, including 1988’s television mini-series War & Remembrance, in an episode of Agatha Christie’s Marple, and more recently in Churchill: 100 Days That Saved Britain, while to younger audiences Hardy is better known as curmudgeonly Cornelius Fudge in the Harry Potter saga, playing the part in four of the seven films.

His most famous television role was in both series of veterinarian drama All Creatures Great And Small, alongside Doctor Who actor Peter Davidson, which ran in two series between 1978 and 1990.

Robert Hardy passed away on August 3rd, aged 91.
