Jonathan Hardy – 1940-2012

Australian actor Jonathan Hardy has passed away. Mr Hardy is best known for his Oscar nomination for the screenplay on Breaker Morant, in 1980. Hardy, born in New Zealand and a resident of Britain for a short time before emigrating to Australia, made appearences in films such as Mad Max, Moulin Rouge, and The Devil’s Playground. He directed 80’s pop-star Laura Brannigan in Backstage, while international audiences would recognise his voice as the character Dominar Rygel XVI in the sci-fi series Farscape.

Mr Hardy passed away on July 30th, aged 71.

Rodney is the Editor-In-Chief of Fernby Films, and has been appreciating films seriously since 1993. Rodney’s first foray into online reviews was for a now-defunct online Australian DVD store, before starting up when that enterprise fell through, in 2007. Rodney lives in the South Australian city of Adelaide, with his wife and two young children, whom he loves very much.
