Elisabeth Sladen - 1948-2011

A sad day for Doctor Who fans today, with news reaching us of the passing of one of the Doctor’s favorite companions. Elisabeth Sladen, who portrayed Sarah Jane Smith in the long-running sci-fi series, appeared during the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker era’s, before returning for the revamped series alongside David Tennant in a cameo role or two – her most recent acting stint as the character was in the Who spin-off series, The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Ms Sladen passed away on April 19th from a battle with cancer. She was 63.
