Vale – Anne Francis

Anne Francis - 1930-2011

Very quick tip of the hat this morning regarding the passing of Anne Francis, the woman who starred alongside Leslie Nielsen and Walter Pidgeon in Forbidden Planet. Francis made her film debut in 1947’s This Time For Keeps, before appearing in various supporting roles in films such as So Young So Bad and Bad Day At Black Rock. Later films include 1978’s Born Again, The Double O Kid in 1992, and Lovers Knot in 1996.

She passed away from complications of pancreatic cancer on January 2.

  1. I sad passing of a very memorable and classy lady. Pancreatic cancer is a tough way out and I only hope she didn't suffer long. Her career spanned over half a century and I read somewhere that she was actually the first single woman to adopt a baby back in the 70's. Wow, she had talent and inspiration.

We want to hear from you!!! Leave us your thoughts here!!!

Never blessed with a body worthy of a porn star, nor being the heir to a wealthy industrialists fortune, nor suffering the tragedy of having his parents murdered outside a Gotham theater, Rodney is, contrary to popular opinion, neither Ron Jeremy, JD Rockefeller, or Batman. As a serious appreciator of film since 1996, Rodney's love affair with the medium has continued with his online blog, Fernby Films, a facility allowing him to communicate with fellow cineasts in their mutual love of all things movie.
